POEMS
BY HER SIDE
I WAS THERE BY HER SIDE
WHEN SHE TOLD THE FAMILY WITH
TEARFUL JOY THAT SHE WAS PREGNANT
I WAS THERE BY HER SIDE
WHEN SHE TOLD THEM SHE HAD CANCER
I WAS THERE BY HER SIDE
WHEN SHE TOLD US TO BE STRONG FOR HER
BECAUSE SHE WAS GOING TO HAVE HER
CHILD AND BEAT THIS DISEASE
I WAS THERE BY HER SIDE
WHEN SHE TORMENTED OVER THE FACT
THAT SHE WAS GOING TO LOOSE HER RIGHT
BREAST
I WAS THERE BY HER SIDE
WAITING IN THE ANTISEPTIC HOSPITAL ROOM
WHEN THE DOCTOR TOLD HER THAT HER
CANCER WAS TERMINAL
I WAS THERE BY HER SIDE
WHEN THEY LAID HER TO REST IN THE
GROUND
SO NOW I STAND ALONE WISHING THAT I WAS
THERE BY HER SIDE

SEASONS
SUMMER
SUMMER TIME REMINDS ME OF MY MOTHER
COOL-AID POPSICLES, NEIGHBORS CHILDREN
AND SUNNY BEACHES. SHE IS ALWAYS
THERE TO BE YOUR
FRIEND OR ANY ONE
ELSES
FALL
WITH THE FALL COMES THE CHANGE.
THE CHANGE OF THE COLOUR OF THE
LEAVES.
THE CHANGE OF THE NATURE OF OUR WAYS.
YET, THROUGH ALL OF THESE CHANGES
YOU ARE ALWAYS THE CONSTANT. ALWAYS
THERE TO GIVE YOUR EAR, AND LOVING
HELPFUL ADVISE.
WINTER
I THINK OF YOU WITH THE FIRST FALLEN
SNOW, AND WHEN THE SNOWFLAKES HIT MY
FACE. YOU ARE WITH ME WITH EACH
CHRISTMAS CAKE THAT I BAKE, AND ALL OF
THE DECORATIONS THAT I MAKE. WHEN WE
SING, YOUR VOICE IS HEARD ON HIGH. IT'S
CHRISTMAS, IT'S NEW YEARS, I JUST LOVE
THIS SEASON OF THE YEAR.
SPRING
IT'S A TIME OF NEW BEGINNINGS.
THE EARTH WAKING FROM IT'S WINTER NAP.
THE BEGINNING OF THE FLOWERS BLOOM.
THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR ME.
THIS IS THE TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN YOU
LEFT ME. IT WAS THE END OF ONE LIFE AND
THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER. THE PART OF
ME THAT YOU TOOK WITH YOU HAS LEFT A
VOID. A VOID THAT I HAVE SO DESPERATELY
TRIED TO FILL. UNFORTUNATELY NO ONE
CAN FILL THE SPACE, SO I WAIT WITH THIS
SPACE UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.
