Research Question (Clear, unambiguous) |
"What drives law students to choose one
career path over another?" This
question is probably two broad ("what drives" covers everything),
but otherwise is a reasonable research issue. |
|
Relevant
Literature |
You should find more
directly useful material on legal careers than Bourdieu's work (although
consulting it may be valuable). The
legal profession has attracted a fair amount of studies over time. |
|
Causal Interpretations (clear, all
parts defined, mechanisms, controls, plausible) |
The independent variables mentioned are okay,
but seem to be a catch all list. It
would be better to review studies of the profession to discover what is
known, isolate what past research shows might matter, and consider how you
can go beyond that with the available data.
It would help if you could distill it into an interesting causal
question. |
|
Data
(variables, sample, comparison) |
The After the JD data
are plausible for this project. You
need to find how they have already been used to discover what room there is
for you to do something different. |
|
Research Value |
The discussion of research value in general
terms is okay, but this needs to show how the intended research will go
beyond that previously done. |
|
Overall |
If properly focused and
build on past research, this could be a reasonable study. |
