New York, NY -- The NYU hockey team improved its perfect league record to 6-0 Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 win over New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) at the Ironbound Rink in Newark.

Leading scorer Tony Guglietti figured in every NYU tally with two goals and two assists. Phil Pucciarelli and Deya Jourdy also scored while team captain Paul Ginns added two assists.

According to comments on the score sheet provided by head coach Steven Brown, the Violets came out flat in the scoreless first period and spetn most of their time in the penalty box. Phil Gershgorin was called for roughing at 3:25 of the first and the parade of players to the box didn't end until 17:02, when Anthony Lui took a seat for cross-checking.

Fifty-five seconds into the second, however, NYU came alive. NJIT's Craig Erezuma was called for delay of game at :39, and Pucciarelli scored on the ensuing power play for the 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, Guglietti scored his first of the game and 22nd of the year with an assist from Ginns, and Jourdy added the eventual game-winner at 16:20 on a five-hole shot on a breakaway.

The Violets got a scare in the third period when NJIT outshot them 25-6 and got back into the game with goals by Frezuma and Mike Alinrantis, but Guglietti scored into the empty net at 19:27 to seal the victory.

HOCKEY NOTES- Defenseman James Lee reinjured his in-step in the second period and didn't return to the game... David Chang made 41 saves for the win... Violets were without Manech Ibar, Gabe Roth, Tim Trevathan, Hideo Kurokawa and Pavel Shmushkis... Dan Kukkonen didn't play because of a skate-cut injury suffered Friday night... Amy Rintoul saw a regular shift as a third line winger... Tony Guglietti now has 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points in ten games (non-league games included).
