Current Free Practices in Music and Poetry
This symposium will explore the topic of free practices in music and poetry, today in particular, but in historical cognizance of
potentially linked cultural moments of the past century.
We will explore the meanings of the practices to the artists who use them,
and their impacts on surrounding and ensuing discourse and cultural practices.
Topics of discussion will include but will not be limited to authorial locus, ontology/reading/representation, art as a political act and as a social practice, cultural context and critique, and the
imbricated nature of aesthetics and social practice.
