Why Europeans support the Palestinians rather than Israel
A typical radical Palestinian sentiment, re the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Israel:
On the fiftieth anniversary of one of the greatest crimes of the age,
committed against the gentle people and land of Palestine, we stand in
reverence in the sight of the martyrs who had offered their lives as a
libation to the continuity of the land and its immortal name.

Given the horrible wars and catastrophes of the last hundred years, why
would radical Palestinians proclaim that they are the victims of one of
the greatest crimes of the age? Firstly, because they are masters at
the art of inventing a lie and then believing in it passionately.
Why invent and believe in this particular lie? Obviously because they
are attempting to erase sympathy for the Jews due to the Holocaust in
various ways: by denying that it ever occurred, by claiming that Jews
manipulate it to gain sympathy, by claiming that the Palestinian
situation is the fault of others not of their own doing, and that their
suffering is greater than that suffered by the Jews, and that this
suffering is caused by the Jews.
The Europeans love this because it proclaims that what they did to the
6 million Jews, slaughtering them, helping thers to do it, taking over
their homes and posessions, was not as bad as what the Jews themselves
are doing to others.
Prediction: in a few years one will hear Europeans beginning to say
things like: "maybe the millions of Jews who were killed in Europe
during WWII were not so innocent after all, just look at what their
compatriots in Israel are doing".
