TREE

Country Dreaming's photos

This picture was downloaded from Flickr. A folder was created and Photoshop Elements 2.0 was used to create effects by using different filters. First this image was resized because the original was 2048 x 1536 pixels. Photoshop Elements' "Image Resize" command made the photo down to 576x432 pixels. Twelve filters were tried and chose to display these. Each had a distinctive difference from the original, and I may have liked liquify the most because it allowed more interaction than the other filters. Each time I tried an effect, I would use "save as" to save as a new file and then use the "undo" command to return to the original and repeat the filtering process.

This is the resized original. A public photo from Flickr of a tree in Ohio. The image itself almost seems unreal and was perhaps enhanced by Photoshop. The sky is vivid and the buildings almost seem drawn, which sometimes happens as the Contrast is increased. I picked this picture because it had such clarity.

Here is a fresco filter applied to the tree. I like the shadowy painterly effect.

Here is a difference clouds filter applied to the tree. This adds a pastel, dreamy quality.

Here is a craquelure filter applied to the tree. This dramatic, similar to embossing, but more like a texture of special paper.

Here is a liquify filter applied to the tree. I love the control that you have over the distortion. This one was the most fun for me. I made many versions, but chose to post this one which stayed close to the original but also changed it dramatically.
